Mr Joseph Aloba, who spoke in a video that went viral on social media, said that he was the only one who had the right to authorize anything concerning his son's body, even after death.
He said that he heard that some people, including Nollywood actress, Tonto Dikeh, were calling on the Nigerian police to release Mohbad's body for a proper burial. He wondered why they were in a hurry to bury his son, when they had been fighting for justice for him.
Mohbad was allegedly killed by his girlfriend, Chidinma Ojukwu, in a hotel room in Lagos on June 15, 2023. His body was taken away by the police for investigation and autopsy.
Mr Aloba said that re-burying his son would only make the matter die down and the killers would go scot-free. He insisted that justice must be done first and that a DNA test must be conducted on Mohbad's son, Liam, who was born after his death.
He said:
"I heard some people want to go and carry Mohbad's body. When this boy was alive, he was my son and even after death, he is still my son. Nobody should go and take his body. If anything must be done, I will be the one to authorize it. We are seeking justice for Mohbad and you people are talking of burial. What remains after burial? Let justice take place first and DNA is very necessary please."

Here are some of the comments:
@tundeednut:
"This man is just being wicked. How can he keep his son's body for so long? He should allow him to rest in peace. Tonto Dikeh and others are doing the right thing. They should go ahead and bury Mohbad."
@official_mercyeke:
"I feel sorry for this man. He is still in pain and grief. He needs closure and justice. He is not being wicked, he is just being a father. I pray God gives him the strength and wisdom to handle this situation."
@davido:
"This is a very complicated matter. I understand both sides. But I think the best thing to do is to respect the father's wishes. He is the only one who can decide what to do with his son's body. He is the only one who knows how he feels. Let's not judge him or pressure him. Let's pray for him and support him."
@bobrisky222:
"This is nonsense. This man is just looking for attention and money. He doesn't care about his son. He is using his son's death to blackmail people. He should release his son's body and stop disturbing us. He is a bad father."
